Join us at The Mile End throughout August and celebrate local Australian produce!
During the month, we’ll be recognising and appreciating the amazing local produce Australia has to offer. From local seafood and meat to native seeds and plants that provide outstanding flavours. Australian food has no boundaries with the abundance of local produce that can go into creating a dish!
Furthermore, come in and try our special Australiana menu! The menu features a range of native Australian inspired dishes carefully crafted with saltbush, bunya nut, wattleseed and more. Let your taste buds run wild with these restaurant style meals!

Information about the history & traditions of Australian produce & food
Prior to European colonisation in the 18th century, Aboriginal Australians survived for thousands of years on a hunter-gatherer diet. They were experts at finding food and water in the Australian landscape. This “bush tucker” diet often included emu, kangaroo, moths, lizards and snakes as well as berries, roots and honey. Seafood, which was caught with spears or hooks, was a staple of the Aboriginal diet. The diet and cooking techniques of a particular tribe varied with their location. Despite the hardships of this lifestyle many Aborigines thrived and were healthy and well fed. – read more here.
